Mesa: rain, golf, rain

Dee and I golfed in the rain yesterday.  We actually played very well and probably should play all the time in the rain.  Lord knows Mesa is providing us with that opportunity since we've gotten here. Wednesday dueung the day it rained again. We did go to a Mexican themed potluck block party though Wednesday night. There were probably 30 people there. We have some older neighbors on the block. There were celebrations of people turning 70,75, and 92. Very very nice people. We must be the kids on the street. Actually, I think Dee and I are the youngest kids in the park.  Princess has a new friend; Jake. They go running in this 300 acre park each morning. We haven't gone the past couple of days due to inclement weather. Jake's dad, Gary swung by last night in his golf cart to check on Princess.  I guess we'll have to go this morning if the rain ever stops. Here's some more pictures.

Finally golfing in Mesa

Dee and I finally had the opportunityto go golfing yesterday. 9 holes. Much talk of the 9 hole course being difficult; but we played it like champs. Very narrow fairways though with homes on left and right of us. Dee always hits the ball straight and true. It's a crap shoot with me. Only on the last hole, did my patented slice not work off the tee. So I hit one straight where I was aiming, and hit one over the fences, and over a home. Go figure. Ball landed in the side street somewhere. So, it was a good day.  Only lost one ball. We played our Monday Bingo last night again, and we won again. Small pots; but it's fun.  We may take a road trip today to Yuma, AZ to check out some RV resorts for our next stop.  Got to keep busy.. Here's some pictures from yesterday.

Swap meet day

I made some spaghetti and meatballs in the MH yesterday morning. Brought it over to some friends house last night, and learned another game called hand and foot. Fun game. We all went to an indoor swap meet today that was huge. Got a couple of things, and then went out to the Wild Horse restaurant in Peoria. Best hamburgers in Arizona. Our son-in-laws parents operate the restaurant. Nice seeing Glen and Jill, along with Forrest's sister, Haley. Mostly dried up out here now. A top of the line motor home was on fire and burning up when we returned home today. Many firefighters, police, and ambulance.Hopefully, everyone that was inside are okay. I may put the awning down tomorrow and clean up outside after Mass and lunch with Dee's parents.  Here's some pictures of Jill and Dee,with Glen, and also Glen and I, and Haley.

Rain, wind, rain. Arizona?

Past couple of days now, it's been raining and is very windy. Princess doesn't do well in the rain, and especially the wind rocking the motorhome. Of course since I had the outside all set up, I had to close up the awning, and cover the bikes, table, and grill with our tarp and strap it all down. We went to a casino yesterday to get out of the house. Did alright. It's supposed to rain again the next couple of days. I have to time taking Princess out for walks for when it's only drizzling. Louisa, I told Princess that Rocky misses her, and she was all excited. I'm going to try msking some spaghetti and meatballs this morning to take over to Dee's parents house. We are taking them out to the movies today.

1st week in ! Pretty cool.

Dee and I have been pretty busy so far. I on the outside of the motorhome, and Dee on the inside. I put up the patio lights, and have taken down the patio lights. Same thing with the flag I usually put on the windshield. We are right behind the clubhouse, and therefore not too many motorhomes here. Mostly all regular small homes. I have to get out of camping mode. Princess and I go to the doggie park daily when it gets light out, and she has multiple friends already. One dog in particular we go with to a huge park and let them run. I'm known as Princess's dad. Nice huh! Dee and I have different options of getting around here, such as golf carts, people have, or driving around,or by bicycle mode. So, what did we decide on ? bicycles of course. We got soome throwback bikes at WalMart the other day. I got a Huffy, and Dee a Shwinn. We rode them out to the golf course yesterday. Didn't break anything, or fall. That was a successful trip. We did stop for lunch though at golf course, and I had a beer, Dee, two bloody Mary's. Hard time getting back. It was good though for our two hour siesta in the afternoon. We've been to the jacuzzi, and pool, and it is very nice. Played Bingo on Monday night, and I split a special game. Most everyone here is a little older here. Dee and I retired a little young, so we are basically off by a generation. Next park we look at, we'll have to take age difference into consideration. Princess misses Rocky Louisa. I'm attaching a couple of pictures. Enjoy!

Made it to Mesa in one piece

After a long day of travelling on Wednesday, Dee and I pulled into Mesa late in the evening. We got our spot first thing in the morning snd started fixing up our new home. Of course we had no electricity on Thursday, but what else is new? Dee organized the inside, and Princess assisted me on the outside. First thing though; when we pulled up, a neighbor came over to introduce herself and let us know when "Happy hour" was. I think we are in a good neighborhood. We've checked out the whole facility, and it's awesome. Golf course is nice and we have a tee time first thing Monday morning. There is a nice dog run where I've been taking Princess 2x daily for her exercise. We are one short block from the laundry facility, activity center, ball room, and 2 pools and 4 jacuzzi's. We've already hit the jacuzzi and it was great, at night looking at the stars while getting a jet massage. We both got manicures/pedicures yesterday, and Dee a very nice haircut. Went to some friends house for the Cardinals game. I was kind of hoping for a Cardinal win, as the Cowboys play Minnesota today. I would have liked to gone to that game against the Cardinals. Instead, I guess the Cowboys will have to play New Orleans next weekafter today's game ends. Going to lunch today with Dee's parents again. During the game though. Hope we go someplace with a TV. Otherwise, I'll have to do that whole I-phone thing and listen to the game instead.

Riverdance

Dee and I went to see River dance at the San Diego Civic center. What an awesome show. I was mesmerized by the orchestra and dancing. Wow !b We went back to Jenny and Forrest house for dinner and Cowboys game. I made it to half time and got the shakes. Came back to the motor home, and had a temp of 100.8. Went up to 104.7 a little while ago, and just now down to 101.8. It's crazy. What a trip so far. Dee's still at the kids house helping out; but I am out of the ball game temporarily. Must be thi whole California thing. I can do without it.

San Diego, CA

We made it ro San Diego Thursday. Dry camped at Admiral Bakers Thursday night while waiting for our spot Friday morning. We went to see our grandson Carter, (and daughter and son in law) Thursday night. Carter became ill, so Dee stayed to help out. I got to set up motor home Friday morning with Princess. We are squared away now, and going to see Riverdance today at the Civic Center. I guess we will have to hit a sports bar as soon as possible after the show as my beloved Dallas Cowboys will be playing. Dee's Patriots are on tomorrow. That's it for now.

White Water, California

Dale and Linda with their two children loved the house yesterday. They've been living in hotels since 12/28; so Dee and I asked them to move in yesterday. House is clean, nothing in fridge, or snacks. So rather then Dee and I just sitting there doing nothing, at least giving the family the place to move in right away seemed to be the way to go. Made it as far as White Water last night. Seems far; but is actually 30 miles from home. Historic landmark for us though. Casino Morongo. We played for a while, had some dinner, and walked out even. Slept with the semi truckers. Hopefully,we'll go a little further today. We'll see.

Let the fun begin

House is super clean, and renters are here. We'll show them how everything works today and hopefully hit the road. Motor home packed, got to hook up the Honda and Dee driving the truck. Princess is my co-pilot. San Diego, here we come.
