Perris skyjumping

Yesterday, James and Jackies brother Robert, jumped out of a perfectly good flying airplane with another friend of ours, Nathaniel.  Nathan and Robert jumped tandum, and James for the first time, solo.  The jump was supposed to go at 12:30, then 1:30.  They wound up jumping at 4:00.  By then Dee, Michelle, and I had finished our beers, water, 7-ups, etc.. as it hit 100 degrees. Here's some pictures of us before the jump, and finally afterwards...

Good bye little Princess

6 years ago today, our little lady came into our lives from the Morongo Basin Humane Society Animal shelter. Princess was three already and somewhat set in her ways. At first we found her sleeping on one of the beds in the extra bedroom. Then we found out she loved bread when she polished off a 6pack of English muffins, and a loaf of Wonder Bread. Dee would later observe her circling the living room waitimg for Dee to leave, so she could hop on the couch and try to bury her bone. Princess got "in charge" treats every day when we left for work.  I would leave them on the counter for Dee to give to her. Princess would snatch them up, and Dee would give her more, not knowing. Took a few months. She travelledd to Sedona and the rim of the Grand Canyon with us. Been co-captian on our pontoon boat. She'd sit with me the many times I fell.  Dee jumped into the freezing pool to save her life when Princess jumped in to get a toy and became sumerged under the cover. She played in the snow. All the grandkids played with her, rode her, gave exams to her, and she was a "doggie bag", hot dog, and other things for Halloween. Wore bandanna's all the time. Got dressed in her Dallas cowboy jersey, hid behind Dee when Dee would answer the door. Back in March, Princess was starting to feel the affects of travelling in the motor home.  Add in the fact that we had very cool weather, and she had torn ligaments in her hind two legs, we did what we could for her comfort. Plenty of different medications, lifting her in and out of the car.  Helping her into the motor home.. Lately, she was having nightmares, snoring so loud, she would wake herself up and surprise herself, She didn't run off like she used to when I took her leash off, no twirls, no jumping, just sleeping and having a hard time standing up.  Last night while in her sleep, she was breathing very very hard, and we could see the pain in her bloodshot eyes when she opened them.  Today, Dee and I said goodbye to our little lady.  It was very painful for the both of us. We both loved her very much, and she was a great companion. I was glad Dee was with me, as we were both overcome with emotion when they put our Princess to sleep. We didn't realize today until we broke out her papers that we had adopted her exactly 6 years ago  to the day. Princess was born "Pluto" as one of the 7 planets of her litter on June 21st, 2001. She was laid to rest today, and has got to be in a better place now, probably twirling around and playing somewhere. Enjoy some of our pictures of her.

Look at all them Cowboy fans !!

Yucaipa CA weekend

Dee, Princess and I went to James and Jackies new home for the weekend last week. Nice and warm for the first time this summer. We went golfing on the course where they live. Between the 4 of us, we polished off over a case of beer, food, and meds... Lost a bunch of balls; but had a great time. Sebastian played every hole with us.  He played very good.(didn't lose any balls either)
We made some spaghetti and meatballs on Saturday. Some ribs on Sunday. I think Dee and I really need to get a job or something so we can take a break...Came back and took Princess to the beach on Tuesday. Lot of dogs having a good time in the water. She is really having a hard time now moving around, getting up and down with her legs. Trying to make it to Del Mar and Camp Pendleton before we say our goodbyes to her. She has had a good life and good times with us.  We don't want her to be in so much pain, that she isn't able to get up, or walk, or play... It is hard on us right now.  I want to take her to the vet at Camp Pendleton and we can go from there... Enjoy some pictures of our weekend and the beach.

1/3 of August almost completed

1st week Kaitlyn and Devin were here. After they left, we had Jim n Cindy visit from Arizona for 5 days. They left, so we had some time to spend with Alexa and Stacy and finished school shopping with Alexa. Got back just in time for Michelle and Scott to visit from Palm Desert for the weekend. Dee has been resting for the past two days. I've been golfing and going out again today. We go to Palm Springs tomorrow for a dental appointment for Dee, and will be spending some time with Jimbo, Jackie, and Sebastian. Return appnt for Dee on Monday for dentaal. In the meantime, I had appnt with V.A. in Loma Linda two days ago, and return appnt Friday afternoon after Dee's appnt. So, it may seem like down time for us; but not really... Whew !!

New month, new adventures coming...

July wound up being a very busy month.  Picnic on July 4th. Julian was a bust. Seal Beach pretty nice.  We can see the fireworks from Disney every night. We've been to Disneyland twice, Universal Studios three times, Seaworld, the beach, and golfed a few times.  Jim n Cindy visted from Mesa, Arizona. We had Kaitlyn n Devin for five days here. We went to San Diego for Carter's two year old birthday party, and probably a lot more that I've missed.  Dee did see her orthopedic surgeon and will have one hip replaced at the end of September. We leave here the 23rd, and go to Del Mar beach at Camp Pendleton for two weeks. After that we made reservations back at Admiral Baker for a week while Dee has her pre-op, and after that off to Hesperia to get ready for Dee's rehab there at Chris n Angela's home. they have a single story home with a guest room and bathroom on one end of the house.  My turn to care for Dee for a change. I can only hope to be 1/2 as good as she has been caretaking for me for years.
Here's some pictures taken during the month.  A lot more I just posted on my facebook page.  Enjoy !!
