On the move and getting settled in Palm Springs

Papa n Camdyn n Jennifer

We left Chris n Angela's home after 5 weeks there. Went to Desert Hot Springs in an RV park for one week. Seemed like a month. Didn't really meet anyone, although I continue to walk in the mornings. I still really miss our little Boxer, Princess. We drove around Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and Palm Desert looking at various RV parks, and lucked out to find a resort called, Outdoor resorts that's actually up the street from where we used to live in Cathedral City. They call it the Palms Springs outdoor resorts though. We can even go back to church up the road to where I used to be a Eucharistic Minister. I've met the guy in charge of golfing events here. (they have 27 holes of par 3's), and am joining a coffee clutch and men's bible study already. We have 8 pools and Jacuzzis, laundry, and easy walking in the park.  Nothing but motor homes and 5th wheels. No old park model houses and all that.  We love it so far, and will be staying until the 23rd of December, when we start the Papa n Nana's Christmas motor home sleigh to the kids houses.  Then off to Mesa, Arizona fro Jan 3rd to May 3rd.  From there???  Dee is doing fantastic. Walking so well.  She's coming off of her Coumadin (blood thinners) tomorrow. We're walking in the mornings around the park, or the shopping malls. We started swimming in the heated pools also for some extra exercise. Her recovery has been amazing We went to Sebastian's birthday party yesterday in Yucaipa.  All the grand kids were there too. wonderful day. Enjoy some pictures...

continuing on w/road trip

We went to San Diego yesterday to see Dee's orthopedic physician and he gave her the thumbs up with her recovery progress. All restrictions lifted.  Amazing recovery. We are set to go to Desert Hot Springs next to Palm Springs tomorrow for one week.  If we like it, we'll stay longer.  It will be a little warmer for us and we'll be in a 55+ community with walking paths, pools, and various different activities ( golf ) for us.  We are getting to be like "dirty laundry" at Chris n Angela's home.  They have been so good to us and helpful in Dee's recovery and putting up with me also.  It's time to move on and let the kids get back to their routine. On the road again....

Dee's cruising with new hip

Last weekend, Dee tossed aside her walker and started walking with a cane.  I amazed that she has recovered so well and quickly. Much better then when I had my hips replaced. She tried the motor home steps yesterday, and did them with ease. We expect her to be released by her doctor next week on the 19th.  When he does so though, the visiting nurses will stop coming to the house to draw blood for her coumadin levels.  So, we will be off to 29 Palms in the motor home for at least one month so she can have her levels check at the base hospital.  Then, maybe lake O'neil at Camp Pendleton, and San Diego after that until we can go to Mesa, AZ in January?  Here's some pictures of Devin and Kaitlyn at Devin's football game, and Dee outside at Chris and Angela's home.  Enjoy.

October update

Dee and I staying with our son Chris and his family in Hesperia, CA.  Dee recovering nicely from her hip replacement.  She is moving around well, and starting to learn how to use steps. We have to build up her muscles so we can hit the road again. We've been "dormant" on the road since mid September.  Chris n Angela have been great as well as Kaitlyn and Devin for having us at their home. Dee still has that deep vein trombosis going on, and the coumaden clinic is consistantly changing her dosage.  We hit the Naval Hospital in 29 Palms next week for some follow up and try to get stabilized.  Dee has been a real trooper through this so far. I think though, she is through with being stuck immobilized. Today, we are going to venture out for a ride to camping world, and then walk the mall in Victorville.  Best time is during the week.  Too many people during the weekend.  We did go out last week for a walk in the mall. I had forgotten how rude people are when one is disabled. When I was in my wheel chair, either from hip replacements, or broken legs, shoppers seemed to go out of their way to be rude.  Same thing happened to Dee last week.  We were in line to check out at Penney's: Dee was taking a break and sitting in her walker, when some lady just strode in front of her like she wasn't there. She was almost on top of Dee's lap. It was like a space invasion. I informed this shopper that she was being kind of rude, and she said she didn't see Dee there. Amazing!! Good for a chuckle.  Brought back memories, and I apologized to Dee for not remembering beforehand how rude people can be if one is disabled. Crazy world...Enjoy some recent pictures. Little bit of fun week before surgery.
